Levels & Class Descriptions

Level placement is based on age, skill, experience, technique, and instructor recommendation. Placement in a level is at the discretion of the studio to ensure each dancer is in the class best suited for their growth and success.

Toddler

Typical Age: 2–5 years
Typical Experience: 0–1 year
Best For: Dancers who are just beginning in a structured class setting

Description:
Toddler classes are designed for our youngest dancers and focus on introducing movement in a fun, encouraging, and age-appropriate way. Dancers work on following directions, taking turns, basic rhythm, coordination, balance, spatial awareness, and classroom participation.

Beginner

Typical Age: 5–8 years
Typical Experience: 0–2 years
Best For: Dancers new to a style or still developing foundational technique

Description:
Beginner classes are for dancers who are learning the basics of dance technique and class structure. This level focuses on building a strong foundation while improving coordination, flexibility, rhythm, and confidence.

Intermediate

Typical Age: 8–12 years
Typical Experience: 2–4 years
Best For: Dancers with a solid technical foundation who are ready for increased difficulty

Description:
Intermediate classes are for dancers who have moved beyond the basics and are ready for more detailed instruction and greater challenge. Dancers at this level are expected to pick up choreography more independently and demonstrate stronger control, technique, and performance quality.

Advanced

Typical Age: 12+ years
Typical Experience: 4+ years
Best For: Experienced dancers with strong technique, work ethic, and performance ability

Description:
Advanced classes are designed for dancers with significant training and a strong technical base. These classes move at a quicker pace and require focus, discipline, retention, and consistent execution of more difficult skills and combinations.

Class Description: A foundational dance class focused on technique, posture, balance, flexibility, grace, and control.

Toddler: No prior ballet training required. Dancer should be able to separate from parent with reasonable support, participate in a group setting, follow simple directions, and engage in age-appropriate movement activities.

Beginner: Dancer should be able to follow multi-step directions, participate independently in class, and demonstrate beginning understanding of basic movement structure. No formal ballet experience required, but dancer should be ready to learn positions, pliés, relevés, and simple across-the-floor work.

Intermediate: Dancer should demonstrate understanding of basic ballet vocabulary and technique, including positions, pliés, relevés, tendus, and simple jumps. Dancer should have sufficient strength, control, and focus to retain combinations and apply corrections.

Advanced: Dancer should demonstrate strong understanding of ballet vocabulary, alignment, turnout awareness, balance, flexibility, and control. Dancer should be able to execute intermediate skills consistently and retain longer barre and center combinations.
